Number of violations of the European Convention on Human Rights (at the European Court of Human Rights) per 100.000 inhabitants
Slovakia exceeds the EU average of 0,06 violations per 100,000 inhabitants by more than double. In 2021, there were 0,40 violations per 100,000 inhabitants. Hence, the status of compliance requires significant improvement.
According to the annual statistics of the European Court of Human Rights, in 2021, there were 23 judgements, out of which in 22 judgements, at least one violation was found.

The most frequently violated right was the right to proceeding without unreasonable delay. 11 out of 22 violations concerned length of proceeding, 1 violation concerned lack of effective investigation, 3 violations concerned the right to liberty and security, 3 violations concerned the right to fair trial, 3 violations concerned right to respect private life and 1 violation concerned freedom of expression.
